My First Vlog
Although I have made many live videos on Periscope and as co-host of That Sewing Blab, I am a relative newbie with recorded videos. I think one of the biggest differences I have noticed between live and recorded videos is that I feel like the recorded video should be shorter and more polished. This leads me to the biggest difference I have found between live video and recorded video – editing. I actually filmed this vlog a while back, but it took me quite a while to edit it. I know it will get quicker once I have a better grasp of all of the features of the editing software. Luckily I find the whole process a lot of fun; the bloopers at the end of the video will leave you in no doubt of that.
My main goals for the vlog were to:
- introduce myself. Check out my about page to learn more about me and the blog.
- talk about my Easter Spring Dress plans. As part of the Seamstress of YouTube’s Easter Spring Dress Challenge. I planned on doing style B when I shot the video but have since made style B with style C’s sleeve. I love the fabric I chose as it is lovely happy and bright and I think it has the perfect weight for the dress. See the below video to check out the fabric I chose. I have finished the dress and I am happy with it. It might take me a week to edit the footage, though. 🙂
- talk about how I see my YouTube channel progressing. Figuring out what kind of videos people would be interested in watching and videos I would find interesting to make.
Too Geeky or Not?!?
I thought for the vlog I should try to be myself. Now I am not too sure. I normally only subject my family and friends to this side of me, and I almost edited out the geekier bits, but when I watched the video without them, it seemed quite boring to me. So I am letting my geek flag fly. I would love to know what you think of the video (dial back the geekiness or not?) and my planned Easter Spring Dress (sleeves or no sleeves?).
You’re too funny Dawn! “Vee Log”! I love the video and think you should let “your” true personality shine! Remember what you told me “just be yourself and everyone will love you”!
I still am unsure if it is pronounced vlog or vee-log.I have heard it both ways. I have also heard it used as a noun and verb.
It was good advice, wasn;t it? 🙂 You are right I will let my geek flag fly! It is a lot more fun that way. Thanks, Myra.
OR NOT!, enjoyed you Vlog and love your dress Dawn!
I hope you liked the mini movie I did in my vlog. It was to thank you and the other ladies. The happy mail you sent me was amazing and I wanted to thank you properly. Thanks!!!! 🙂
