The design challenge for September on the Duelling Designs blog has been all about denim (and jean). We have discussed the characteristics that make denim such a fabulous fabric to work with in the post The Skinny on Denim and discussed the difference between Denim and Jean. For this month’s challenge, I have been detailing the process of creating the Hooded Denim Jacket. This month’s design challenge ties in nicely with Sew Much Talent’s challenge Denim Days. As part of these challenges, we discussed all things denim on episode 31 of That Sewing Blab. Carol Crocker-Ware (@anncie2001 on Periscope) gave us great tips for sewing with denim and a live demonstration. It has been a busy but educational month.
Denim Videos
During That Sewing Blab, I also talked about my favourite videos featuring denim. There are a lot of very informative videos about denim on-line so the hardest part was narrowing it down to just a few for the show. I thought it would be handy to list each of the videos in a blog post to make it easy for you to watch them.
So without further ado here are my favorite denim videos.

Jeans Sew-Along
By: Mimi G. Style
To support the release of Mimi G’s new Jeans Pattern (Simplicity 8222) she has created a series of videos that step you through the process of making the jeans. Prom prepping the fabric to finishing Mimi G. covers everything you need to know in her sew-a-long. This series is a lot like the other videos on her YouTube channel bright, well edited and very informative. I absolutely love that her jeans pattern comes in three different styles curvy, regular and slim. It is refreshing to see a jean pattern that recognises that not all women have the same body type.
