Second Chance Design Challenge
I have really enjoyed my first year of blogging. My favourite part of each month’s design challenges is the interaction I have with readers of the blog, followers on social media and viewers on my live broadcasts on Periscope. Each month I post two illustrations of garments on the Duelling Designs blog and vote for their favourite. It is a thrill not knowing which design will win, and consequently which design I will be patternmaking and sewing. The winning garments end up part of my wardrobe. But what happens to the runners up?
I have felt some serious regret after a few of the votes that I could not make the losing design. losinght for my blogiversary I would look back on all these runners-up and choose two of my favourite to give a second chance. The Swirl jacket and Slashed Culottes were the two garments I chose to put forward for voting this month. The only difference I would make is to change the Swirl Jacket fabric to one that has black on one side and grey on the other instead of the original blood orange and bright orange. As I use fabric from my stash for each of the challenges, and I used almost all of the orange fabric in the Conference Challenge, I had to make this edit.
Empty Hands
Are you wondering why I did not draw hands on my figures? I do find drawing hands difficult but that is not the reason. This month I am collaborating with the fabulous Emily from the blog A Pop of Red. Once the winning design has been chosen by you I will start the patternmaking and you will have another opportunity to vote on the Duelling Designs blog. Emily will be sharing some of her creative DIY goodness with us this month. She will be designing two items to go with the winning design for you to vote on next week. She could design anything that compliments the design. Emily is a super nice, creative blogger and I cannot wait to see what she will come up with for us! Thanks, Emily!
Would you have chosen the same to garments to give a second chance to or would you have chosen a different garment from a previous challenge?
I have voted for my favorite for you to make in this challenge. But since it is your one year blog anniversary I think you should make both in coordinating fabric.
Thanks Connie for voting! I would make both but this month I am working on a little surprise “thank you” to everyone who supported me this year! You would be top of that list, Connie! I appreciate all you support and feedback!
I voted for the jacket. I think it would be really pretty in grey with a touch of black.
Thank you for voting, Karen. I wasn’t sure if I should have the grey as the main colour or the contrast fabric. Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, I love getting feedback from readers.
I agree with Connie! Why not make both in honor of your anniversary?
