Great First Show
The premier of That Sewing Blab on Blab.im was an educational experience. Our viewers, many of which are new to Blab.im, learned about the platform and what some of its features were during the show. The co-hosts learned myself included, that when a platform is in beta that there will be inevitable be a few hitches. Blab.im is a live streaming platform that can have up to four people on the screen at one time. On our first show, Alethia of @sewmuchtalent and myself introduced the show, what the shows concept is and how it will be formatted in the future. Our primary goal is to continue to build a thriving sewing community through live-streamed conversations. We see it as a supportive place where anyone who is interested in sewing can share ideas and ask and answer questions.
Technical Difficulties? No Problem.
To say the first show had a few technical difficulties would be a bit of an understatement. Blab.im is still in beta, and its audience has been growing at an astounding rate. Maybe this rapid expansion is causing growing pains for the platform. We knew it was in beta when we started, but felt the platform is extraordinary and well worth the issues we might encounter. You know, like losing a co-host halfway through the broadcast. We did not have a lot of guests jump into one of the seats (appear on camera) but had a lot of comments from them in the message menu. Most of the viewers are used to live streaming video as they are currently using Periscope to broadcast from their sewing rooms. So I think the next show will have more people come on camera in one of the seats. Not sure what Blab.im is and why you should watch it? I wrote a blog post on why you should use Blab.im and another one on how many of the main features work. Check them out if you are a blab newbie.
Our next show is this Tuesday night at 7:30 pm EST (February 23rd, 2016). I hope to see you there.
Here is hoping that after this week’s blab that I am not as hopped up as I was last week. Co-hosting was nerve-wracking and exciting. After it was over, I felt like I had drunk 20 cups of coffee.
