YOU VOTED!
POLAR OPPOSITES
For this month’s athleisure wear challenge I wanted to make an outfit that could be worn in or out of the gym. My idea was to have two final designs that were radically different. One that I could easily see myself wearing and another that would push me out of my comfort zone a bit.
Design one with its loose, oversized hoodie is something I could see myself wearing. The tights are comfortable and with a colourful t-shirt, I could work out in the gym and feel stylish. Throw the hoodie on over and I am ready for coffee. I love the creative horse pattern on the fabric and think I could wear either piece with lots of things currently in my wardrobe.
Design two is an explosion of colour and fun. It is louder than design one and with its cartoonish print, it is a lot more playful. I like the asymmetrical nature of the design lines.
VOTING PATTERNS
I have noticed that designs with brighter colours have won the design challenges more often. I am curious to know if people are voting for the design they would most like to wear or the one that strikes them as the most interesting. I would love to hear in the comments or on Twitter, Facebook, MeVee or Periscope why you voted for one design over another.
PERISCOPE BROADCAST REVEALING THE SKETCHES
Watch the Periscope below to see me discussing the initial sketches with some fabulous viewers. Thanks again for your input, it is greatly appreciated and makes the whole design process a lot more interactive. Hip hip hoorah for live streaming.
UPDATE: AND THE WINNER IS…..
This month was the first month where the most colourful design did not win the challenge. I think more people voted for design 1 as it fit the original design brief better. You guys are so clever. I know I would be much more comfortable wearing the first design, with its oversized hoodie, when I was outside of the gym. This month people voted in more ways than ever for their favourite designs. People voted here on the blog as well as on Periscope. MeVee, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Peach, and Snapchat. I am thrilled that so many people are voting and giving me their opinions. This interaction is what makes the design challenges so much fun. Thank you!
[…] I began the patternmaking process for the hooded sweatshirt and the tights from different places. I used a high stretch knit block I had made at university as my starting point for the tights and for the hoodie I traced the outline of one of my knit cardigans. I might have started from different points, but I think the outcomes were fantastic, in that they, matched my initial sketches. […]
