SAME PATTERN, DIFFERENT LOOK
As I mentioned in the last post, I changed things around for this month’s design challenge. The two illustrations above use the same pattern but are made of different fabrics and trims. This change means I know what the pattern for the final design is now, even if I don’t know which fabric it will be made in until after the vote. This allows me to start the patternmaking a week earlier so I can squeeze in making a second garment for this months challenge.
I included a photo of the fabrics and trims used in each design as I don’t think my illustrations did them justice.
- Although you cannot tell from the sketch, the red flower on the back on Design 1 would be embroidered onto the fabric.
- It is hard to see the red in the plaid sketch or that it isn’t lace on Design 2 collar-but laser-cut leather. This makes the design look a little more understated a and a lot more ho-hum than it is.
DUELLING DESIGNS FIRST GIVEAWAY!
One finished garment will be for the challenge, and one will be used in a giveaway. Anyone who subscribes to the blog is in the draw to win a Cover-up. Not only will you be in to win one of the cover-ups but you will receive two informative e-mails a month. I cannot wait.
YUP, THOSE ARE FEET IN MY PERISCOPE INTRO
Last week’s photo for the Periscope video introducing October’s challenge was a blurry mess. So in an attempt to look more professional in this week’s scope I printed off a cover page. You can see how well that turned out in the photo above. By the end of my first year of scoping, I will have quite the blooper compilation.
Thank you to everyone who watched the broadcast and an enormous thank you to everyone who commented for their help in choosing the fabrics for this month’s challenge. I know I will use the fabrics that were not used this month, in upcoming challenges.
Make sure you have subscribed before October 26th at 7 pm EST to be in the draw.
